Top 10 Funniest ‘Get a Mac’ Ads

Whether to get a Mac or a PC (Windows) has been a hot and interesting debate topic.

Since 2006, the Get a Mac campaign, featuring John Hodgman and Justin Long, was launched. So, here are the 10 Get a Mac commercials that I think are the funniest.

10. Off the Air

Mac and PC show up with a Mac Genius. She announces that it is easier to switch to a Mac because they transfer the files for free. PC then says people don’t need to hear about the Mac Genius and pulls a test card over the camera and says that they are off the air.

9. Mac Genius

Mac introduces an Apple Genius. PC asks her math questions to test her. At the end, PC asks her how much does he loathe Mac on the scale of 1 to 10. She answers “Eleven,” and PC says, “She’s good. Very good.”

8. PC Voice Chat

PC starts his own talk show where people ask for advice on buying computers. All the callers ask for a PC that has Mac features. PCs stops these calls.

7. Now What

PC shows off his book, I Want to Buy a Computer – Now What?, to help customers buy computers. Mac says that buying computers is really easy, because there are personal shoppers at the Apple Store, and even workshops to teach people how to use computers. PC says he thought of this and brings out the companion volume, I Just Bought a Computer – Now What?

6. Flashback

Mac asks PC to see the site and video he made. So PC remembers a time when they were kids. The Mac kid asks the PC kid to see some artwork he drew. But the PC kid takes out a calculator to calculates the time they’ve just wasted. Back in the present, PC does the same thing.

5. Security

PC shows up with a tall bodyguard, who is Vista’s security feature. He demands that PC cancel or allow every incoming or outgoing interaction PC has with Mac.

4. Choose a Vista

To decide which version of Vista to get, PC spins a big game wheel. But he lands on “Lose a Turn”, and Mac asks why PC even put that space.

3. Broken Promises

PC is very excited about Windows 7 and says it won’t have the problems that Vista has. Mac says he feels like he heard this before, and has some flashbacks about PC saying the same thing about Vista, XP, Me, 98, 95, and 2.0. On the last flashback, PC says, “Trust me.” Returning from the flashback, he says the same thing in the same manner.

2. Bake Sale

PC is having a bake sale and says that he is raising money to fix Vista’s problems. Mac contributes by buying a cupcake. PC convinces Mac to take a bite and as soon as he takes a bite, PC says that it costs $10,000,000, and Mac has to pay.

1. Santa Claus

An animated Get a Mac commercial. PC, Mac, and Santa Claus are singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, but PC spoils it by singing, “He knows when you’ve been bad or good, so buy a pc and not a mac this holiday season, or at any other time for goodness sake. Ohhhh…. come on.. ohhhhh……what?”
